Daniel Ssebwato – Director
Mostly called Daniel, he is the founder and one of the directors of Mandela Safari Holidays. Daniel was a tour guide as early as 18. Having grown up at Pelido, a Non-Profit organization, he was introduced to international travelers at an early age. This gave him opportunities to travel around Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda which he later made a carrier. In 2016, he founded Mandela Safari Holidays which specialises in private tailor made safaris in the East African region.

Anouk Van Sommeren -Director and Head of Finance
Born in the Netherlands, she first stepped in Uganda in 2016 as a volunteer at a child care project where she worked for 5 months. During her 5 months in Uganda, Anouk traveled to the 10 Uganda National parks and 5 of the wildlife reserves. It was on one of these adventures that she and Daniel met and are now married and directors of Mandela Safari Holidays. Anouk is head of finance and still enjoys to travel around the region with her favorite trip being Gorilla trekking.
Mwanje Steve – Operations Manager & Senior Guide
When you embark on a trip with us, Steve follows up to make sure the safari goes as planned. He is in touch with your guides, hotels and other service providers to ensure smooth running of your activities. He is also a senior safari guide and having him as your guide is like a double blessing. With a wealth of knowledge about mammals, birds, geography and history, Steve has alot to share with his clients.
Nambaziira Catheline -Tour Consultant
While persuing her degree in Tourism and hotel management, Catheline had her internship with Mandela Safari Holidays. Due to her tourism knowledge and good communication skills, we decided to maitain her after her graduation. She has travelled the East African region and currently serves as our safari consultant. She is resiponsible for designing your safari itineraries. She will provide you with sufficient travel advice and you will indeed feel prepared for the African safari.
Brian Batsurana – Senior Guide
Born and raised in Kasese district in the south western part of Uganda in the Katwe fishing village in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National park. Brian knows this park like he does his bedroom. Which better guide would you like to show you this medley of wonders?
His passion for nature made him do a diploma in Wildlife Tourism Management. In 2015, he worked with Katwe Tourism Destination Centre, in 2016 with Medicines Sans Frontiers as a community engagement personnel and later with Mweya Safari Lodge as a boat captain and senior guide. He is currently a full time safari guide at Mandela Safari Holidays and is ready to share with you his passion and knowledge about Uganda and the rest of East Africa.
Brian is well equipped with knowledge about birds, mammals, butterflies, plants and reptiles. He is also has interest in photography and is some time working on his travel blogs.
Fredrick Kankiriho – Safari Guide
A very passionate person about nature, Fredrick is one of our Safari guides. He specializes in mammals and plant species. He enjoys being out on nature walks, game drives and camping safaris.
Sseruwo Joseph – Safari Guide/Fleet Manager
He has been with Mandela Safari Holidays since its start in 2016. Joseph is a field guide and enjoys trekking, game drives and bird watching. He is also in charge of our fleet of safari vehicles.
Ignatius Tumwine – Safari Guide
Born in Kabale and raised in Rwenzori mountains, Ignatius is someone you would need to make that birding safari complete. He does a lot of trekking in the Rwenzori mountains and is a very reliable safari guide.
