It is in Western Uganda near Fort Portal. Kibale Forest National Park spans approximately 766 km² at elevations from 1,100m to 1,600m thus preserves one of East Africa’s last premontane rainforest expanses.  Moreover the park forms a vital 180km wildlife corridor with Queen Elizabeth National Park enhancing biodiversity connectivity. Additionaly,known as the “primate capital of the world”, Kibale hosts 13 primate species. Especialy it’s famus habituated chimpanzees and thereby offering exceptional tracking experiences. BEST TIME TO VISIT

For optimal chimpanzee trekking conditions and seamless forest excursions, we recommend visiting Kibale Forest National Park during the dry seasons from June through August and December through February when trails are firm, visibility is best, and eventually wildlife encounters are at their most reliable.

SECTORS OF KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK (KNOW WHERE YOU ARE TREKKING)

1.Kanyanchu Sector

Firstly,Kanyanchu serves as the main tourist hub of the park, centrally located and famous for chimpanzee trekking . Guided treks depart at around8;00AM and 2;00pm , typically lasting 2-5 hours including one hour chimp viewing session. Trails are well maintained especially during the dry season .

2.Sebitoli sector

meanwhile, sebitoli lies in the northern part of the park,easily accessible from the fort porta Kampala road.Although chimpanzee tracking is not available here (as they are not habituated), visitors can moreover enjoy guided forest walks featuring colobus and blue monkeys, plus rich birdlife with over 23o species recorded

3.Bulaiga Sector

unlike the busier central zones, Buraiga lies deeper in the park and remains less crowded. Therefore, it’s notably an excellent choice for chimpanzee habituation treks

4.Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

Additionally,just beyond the kanyanchu boundary is the community run Bigodi wetland sanctuary. It combines  outstanding wildlife viewing with grassroots conservation. TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL TRIP TO KIBALE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

  1. Firstly,always arrive a day before your trekking day permits are fixed to a specific date.
  2. Hire a local porter they’ll carry your bag, offer support, and specifically funds  help the local economy.

    3.Trekking groups are assigned by fitness level inform your guide if you prefer easier or harder hikes. Notably fitness Treks vary from 2 to 8+ hours moderate to high fitness recommended.
