Semuliki National Park is situated in Bundibugyo District, Western Uganda, encompassing 220 km² of East Africa’s only lowland tropical rainforest. It ismanaged by the Uganda Wildlife Authority since its was upgrade from reserve status in October 1993
The park lies within the Albertine Rift Valley, bordered by the Semuliki and Lamia rivers which form part of the Congolese border, with the Rwenzori Mountains to the southeast and Lake Albert to the north
Elevation ranges from 670 m to 760 m, and annual rainfall averages 1,500–1,700 mm, often causing seasonal flooding
