    Itinerary

    Day 1Arrival

    On arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be welcomed by your safari guide from Mandela Safari Holidays and also transfer you to your Hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.

    Day 2Shoebill Tracking in Mabamba Swamp

    Have breakfast and then go for shoebill tracking in the Mabamba Swamp. Sail in a motorized boat and search for the rare shoebill stork. This is the most sought for bird by birdwatchers around the globe. Enjoy a local lunch and then relax at your lodge.

    Protecting a jungle-like stretch of the Lake Victoria shore, Entebbe Botanical Garden is a bird-watcher’s paradise where you might also see wild monkeys and squirrels.

    Day 3Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

    Your safari guide will meet you in the morning after breakfast and give you a short briefing about the whole tour. You and then travel to Murchison Falls National Park.

    On the way, you are to do rhino tracking at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is clearly the only place to see rhinos in the wild in Uganda. You track rhinos on foot under the guidance of an expert guide. We then continue to Murchison falls National Park and also drive to the Top of the falls. This is where you will see how the Nile moves into a 6meter wide gorge and also forms the Murchison Falls.

    Day 4Morning Game drive, Afternoon Boat trip

    Have breakfast and then start your game drive in search for elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalos, leopards and so on. Spend the morning exploring the Buligi track, Albert track, Queen’s track, the Nile Delta and so on.

    Day 5Morning game drive, travel to Kibale Forest National Park

    Start with an early morning game drive to see more of what the park has to offer. Lookout for giraffes, kobs, lions, leopards, elephants and more

    Travel to Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. The forest is home to 13 primate species including the chimpanzee, blue monkeys, nocturnal portal, bush babies, and so on. It is also home to several species of butterflies.

    Day 6 Chimpanzee tracking, Bigodi swamp walk

    Wake up early for breakfast and then travel to Kyanyanchu Park headquarters where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking. You then enter the tropical rainforest as you search for man’s closest relatives, the
    chimpanzee. Having encountered them, enjoy a full hour observing their behavior.

    Afternoon
    Go on a guided walk through the Bigodi wetland to see several primates and bird species. The walk also takes you through the village where you will visit a local school, help in brewing a local beer, Coffee tour or even join a group of local women to weave baskets and other hand crafts.

    Day 7 Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

    After a mighty breakfast, you are to travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You drive through the Kasenda crater lakes region and your guide will identify some of the lakes. The whole journey overlooks the mountains of the moon, also known as Rwenzori by the locals. Check in your lodge and have lunch.

    Enjoy an evening game drive in the Kasenyi sector with chance to spot lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos and so much more.

    Day 8Morning Game drive, Afternoon Boat trip

    This morning, you get to go on a guided game drive which is always a safari highlight. It’s an especially
    good way to explore Queen Elizabeth National Park and learn about the wildlife and the animals that you
    might see.

    Day 9 Game drive in Ishasha

    Have breakfast and then travel to Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enroute to your accommodation, you are to have a game drive to see elephants, buffalos, topis, kobs but spotting a pride of tree climbing lions is normally a highlight in this area.

    Day 10Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

    Have breakfast and then travel to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This is home to more than half of the world’s only surviving mountain gorillas and other mammals. Arrival to your safari lodge will be in the early evening.

    Day 11Gorilla Trekking

    On this day, you wake up very early, move to the park headquarters for paperwork and then get briefed about gorilla trekking before entering the Impenetrable Forest. Be ready to walk for one to six hours depending on where you will find the gorillas. Having encountered them, you will enjoy a full hour in their presence. The one hour you spend with the gorillas is unforgettable. The mountain Gorilla is the most powerful and muscular primate on earth.

    Visit a Batwa Community, these are the original inhabitants of the gorilla forest and know body knows the forest better than them. Listen to their life stories and get to know about their day to day life.

    Day 12Lake Bunyonyi

    Have breakfast at leisure and then travel to Lake Bunyonyi. This is Uganda’s deepest and most lake. Relax at one of the resorts here and take part in a number of optional activities which include swimming, birdwatching, visiting some of the legendary islands on the lake, visiting a Batwa community and so on.

    Day 13Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

    After having breakfast, travel to Lake Mburo National Park. This is famous for large herds of zebras and impalas. Other animals to see include elands, waterbucks, buffaloes, giraffes and so on. Due to the scarcity of big predators, you can have a bike safari, horseback safari, walking safari inside this park.

    Today, you are to have a game drive in Lake Mburo National park. Expect to see large herds of zebras, impalas and elands. Other animals to include buffalos, hippos, waterbucks, topis, leopards and so on.

    Day 14Morning Game drive, Safari walk

    Today, you are to have a game drive in Lake Mburo National park. Expect to see large herds of zebras, impalas and elands. Other animals to include buffalos, hippos, waterbucks, topis, leopards and so on.

    Afternoon
    Feel as close as you possibly can to the animals and the landscape when you come with us on a walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park this evening. Walk amongst giraffes, zebras, impalas and other animals as you learn about the animals, plants and animal foot prints in the guidance of an expert guide and game ranger.

    Day 15Departure

    Have a leisure morning and later drive to Kampala or Entebbe. You are to have a lunch stop at Kayabwe (Equator village) where you can also shop for some souvenirs for the trip. You will reach Entebbe in the evening and this marks the end of
    your Uganda Primates Safari.
