Best Time for Gorilla Trekking in Uganda.
Gorilla trekking is an awesome and interesting activity every adventure lover should embark on.
It is such a unique moment to travel and go spend some time with the Gorillas.
They live in East African countries Uganda, Rwanda and
Democratic Republic of Congo. Gorillas stay in thick forests and live in groups
of 50 – 100 gorillas. Much of their life resembles the life of man because they
have over 95% of human DNA.
When one wishes to go and visit these animals, you can either visit Uganda,
Rwanda or Democratic Republic of Congo.
Which are the ideal months for a gorilla trip?
The best time for one to visit the gorillas is during the dry seasons of December to February and late Juneto mid September. If you happen to go in the dry months, you are more likely to not use a rain coat while on the trek. More to that, as you get close to Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla Park are unpaved. In the dry season, you are more likely to have a smooth ride to the parks.
Also during the rainy seasons the gorillas go far in the forest and it is difficult to find them in their usual habitats. It is for these reasons that we highly advise you to book your trip for the dry season.
For the sake of Mgahinga Gorilla Park and Volcanoes National Park, the season of travel matters less. This is because the forests there are not as thick as in Bwindi. The treks therefore tend to be in more open areas which makes the gorilla treks easier.
However, it is also possible to trek gorillas in the wet season. We use only 4WD safari vehicles which will always take you to your destinations no matter the season.
