Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s oldest and biggest national park. It is part of Murchison Falls conservation area still the largest in the country. The park covers 3900 kilometers which gives it first place in size in Uganda.
In this park you find the Murchison falls. This is the narrowest point of the Nile River. Here the Nile if forced into a narrow gorge and hence forms the Murchison Falls in the world. It is the most powerful in the world.

How to get there

The park is accessible by both road and air transport.The park is about 6 hours drive from Kampala.

For air transport, you can take a domestic flight from either Kajjansi or Entebbe Airport. You land at either Pakuba or Chobe airstrip.

Animals Species in Murchison Falls National Park

We find animals like Buffaloes, Elephants, Crocodiles, Giraffes, Lions, Chimpanzees and many species of birds.
The park mainly has different vegetation zones and vegetation covers which harbor different animal species like the swamp vegetation along Kyoga, woodland and savannah.

Things to do in Murchison Falls

A launch trip which involves seeing various wildlife including giant crocodiles, hippos and other animals.

Game drives are also an interesting activity these are mostly done in the
morning and evening hours giving you a nice view of the different animals and the delta area.

Cultural tours are also interesting with performances from the natives like the Mubako.

Chimpanzee Tracking is also done within the verdant forest of Budongo are
some of the best Chimpanzee tracking tours conducted in Uganda.
